With me having completed DarChronicles Volume 1 – Assassin Princess, I figured it would be a good time to explain the magic system. While I have explained it before, this current iteration is version 6 and it's more in-depth than ever. Yes, the magic system is explained in Chapter 4 of Assassin Princess with more information regarding magic scattered throughout the novel. What is magic? To explain this, first we have to take a deep dive into DarChronicles lore. DarChronicles, while set in a steampunk fantasy world, takes place in the future—technically being a post-apocalyptic world. In ancient times, humanity had flourished as a civilization and achieved its pinnacle, being able to draw energy from even the stars through the use of dyson spheres and they traversed outer space and colonized multiple planets throughout the galaxy. Keith Diphridias was twenty-two years old when Eagle issued his now famous challenge to the princes. He sat in the castle library alongside Griffin where they read Eagle’s file after the twenty-year old alchemist prodigy was denied enlistment in the Sacred Guards due to his medical history. Eagle, however, refused to be rejected so he issued a formal challenge to both of King Benjamin’s children: Griffin and Keith to prove his value as a combat alchemist. Keith saw the black and white photos of the six year old Eagle sitting on a hospital bed with all his limbs severed. A different photo showed surgeons working inside his opened torso. Another picture depicted Eagle laying on a hospital bed with all of his limbs attached, but his limbs and torso were swollen and covered in stitches. “Unbelievable, the surgeries this guy went through as a kid is insane.” Keith read his file aloud, “He was exposed to the bone disease that killed the dragon Mattichew.” Griffin scoffed. “Mattichew

Writing poetry or haiku is definitely something I typically don't do, however, I created a world where The Masked Woman with ruby eyes is literally the most wanted person in all of Bectar. She's a wanted criminal in Sacred Guard Nation, The Necromancer Order, and even the Desert Nation of Vigilance. Yet...despite that, no one knows who she is and her followers are difficult to find as they remain tight lipped about her and her mysterious group and agenda. Wayland was working for her. He was hired to build weapons for her as he's a weapon's expert in steampunk and alchemy, combining the firearm technology of The Necromancer Order with the alchemical steam technology of SG Nation. After being rescued from Barlow by Alyzia and Berg, Wayland's only response to anything pertaining to The Masked Woman is "I cannot say." My Bio

I am the author/writer, C.J. Lapeyrouse. I write fantasy (DarChronicles), thrillers, and horror stories.

Born and raised in south Louisiana where I live out in the country where it's peaceful and quiet. I'm a Christian man and avid reader as well as writer. I believe in the philosophy that "the evidence determines the outcome" and I would consider myself a Christian apologist as the evidence STRONGLY supports The Word of God. I do Bible-based videos on my youtube channel.

DarChronicles is my fantasy/adventure series set in the magical steampunk world of Bectar. The series follows Eagle (the Legendary Archer), Cory Fang (Sacred Guard Champion), Rafael Forrester (the Lightning Fist), Alyzia Diphridias (Wizard with Knives), and Myra Hawk (the Prodigy) in their adventures together for the Sacred Guards. It's a fun story with lots of depth to the characters and fantasy action.

Fun facts about my series protagonists of DarChronicles: Alyzia's a vegetarian with the only meat in her diet being seafood. Eagle is an amazing cook as he views culinary arts as being similar to alchemy, claiming that all alchemist are outstanding chefs. Cory Fang was named Cory "Tala" by the Sioux that raised him. Tala means "Stalking Wolf" and Penelope's lullaby for Callie was titled "Stalking Wolf." Myra's one skill that wasn't inherited was her mastery of escape artistry she learned from her dad, Zak. Myra, as only a child, escapes Vivian Grey and even Sami the Pirate as a testament to her skill. Rafael is a retired Heavyweight Boxing World Champion with 52 wins and 0 losses. He had a full legitimate athletic career before becoming Alyzia's bodyguard, but despite his boxing skill, Rafael abhors fighting and rather resolve conflict peacefully with words than with his fist.
